How to Write your revolution Comparison

Take the information that you learned in class about revolutions and type a one to two page paper comparing the revolutions. 
Answer the following questions in your paper:
What do they have in common?
What differences exist? (be specific)
Which one do you believe to be the most influencial in world history?

This is a regular assignment.  It is due on Monday Feb. 13th 2012

Please remember that the French and American Revolutions cannot be included for this assignment.

The adventures of Lord George Macartney

Life of a British Lord required many duties, one of which is to travel when required. Your task for extra credit is to create a map of his adventures along with a children's story to explain the who, the what's, and the why's of his adventures to China. The story should include pictures for each section. This is due on Monday February 6th.

Mother Russia Begins

Russia's beginnings are interesting because they involve strong personalities who have expanded the territory to what it is today.  Your task for extra credit is to create a map of Russia that includes the dates of each expansion and who was the ruler during that expansion.  Be sure to also include the reasons given for each expansion. 

Your map should be creative and colorful.  I would like to be able to display it somewhere in the classroom.

For those wishing to attend an interesting lecture, the Muslim Student Association is hosting one in March that will be an extra credit opportunity if you do go. 

New Years and New Dawns

Ancient Civilizations celebrate their new year in a number of different ways and at various times of the year.  Research a minimum of three civilizations/cultures/religions and their celebrations of the new year.    

Create a poster of this information that is informative and includes pictures.   Make it look like a giant scrapbook page.   This is extra credit and it is due on January 9th when we return to school.

A little late extra credit

This is due upon your return to school on January 9th 2012. War horse came out on December 25th, go out and see it. Once you have seen it, go and online to find out how historians viewed the movie and write a one-page comparison of at least three different historical opinions. You must also add your own opinion in the paper as well. I will add another assignment when I have more time to do so. Enjoy.

Art as life

Extra Credit Opportunity due on Monday 12-12-11

Art was a very important part of the Renaissance, it also an important part of any culture.  Your task is to find art from the years 1200 C.E. to 1450 C.E.   You only need to find one piece of art from any location/culture from that time period and write a one-page critique that tells me how the art represents the culture, your opinion, and what does it say to you or how does it speak to you.  Analyze the art.
